Mike Bennett, Past President

Born and raised in Ottawa, I graduated from the 3 year Business Administration program at Algonquin College. After college, I dabbled in a small business for a year and then joined the retail world. Over the past twenty years, I have gained much needed experience with many companies and in many locations. I worked for Kmart for five years, then with Home Hardware for a year, and then I had the good fortune of joining Giant Tiger. I have been part of the management team in two locations. I spent six months on the road as part of the store support team, and I arrived in Manotick in November of 1996, a year after the store had opened. I have been the Franchise Owner of this store for the past five years.

I have always been involved in every community that I have worked in. In Manotick, I have been involved with the BIA, the Rideau Chamber of Commerce (chair for 2 years, and President for 2 years), and many meetings with our government representatives and service groups, with regards to various community issues. I have always been committed to the community as well, through sponsorships of many groups, teams and organizations.

My wife, Shannon, and I have four children, and we are both very involved in their schooling and extra cirricular activities.
